Police Story 3: Supercop

Police Story 3: Supercop is a terrific action movie – one of the best ever made. Lots of well-designed action scenes, fighting and amazing stunts – and even though the comedy is somewhat toned down there are some truly great comic moments that really add to the entirety.

Jackie Chan once again plays Hong Kong cop Chan Ka-Kui, and this time he volunteers to go deep undercover in a prison in Mainland China. His goal is to help bad boy Panther excape and to earn his trust, in order to find out who is in charge of the drug trafficing in Asia. He is aided by a Chinese police woman, excellently played by Michelle Yeoh, and together they travel around Asia as as part of Panther’s gang. Things work pretty smoothly – until they run into Chan’s girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung)…

Acting performances are great throughout the movie. Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh team up real well together, and Maggie Cheung is as charming and charismatic as always. The production is first class and action is classic, vintage Hong Kong including an entertaining fight on a train roof and a spectacular escape from a bunch of hardboiled prison guards.

The stunts are among the best and most daring ever performed – including Michelle Yeoh’s astonishing motorcycle jump onto a train – and of course Jackie hanging from a helicopter which ensues to fly all over Kuala Lumpur. Police Story 3: Supercop is fast, furious and funny and one of the best action movies of all time!
