Jackie Chan’s clocktower stunt from Project A is one of the most neckbreaking stunts ever performed. Inspired by Harold Lloyd in Safety Last Jackie takes traditional stunt work over the top when he climbs up a flag pole, than into the clocktower – and than out of the tower again. And there he is – hanging from one of the clock hands until he can’t hold on anymore. With nothing but a couple of thin awnings between him and the ground he allows himself to fall all the way down. Interestingly he performed the stunt several times, and we get to see at least two versions of the fall in the movie, nicely shot in slowmo. It shouldn’t work but it does, and even more so; it actually adds to the effect. It’s absolutely superb!
